Patience is a virtue. That’s especially true when you’re in the kitchen. Great food doesn’t just happen; it takes time.

That’s something we know all too well here at the Jones household. One of our favorite kitchen items is our slow cooker. Making meals in a slow cooker isn’t exactly a speedy process, but it always yields delectable results.

Best of all, a slow cooker meal doesn’t require you to slave over them for hours at a time; once the heat is on, you can just walk away and come back at your leisure. Before you know it, the whole house will be filled with the most amazing scents and, just when you can’t take it anymore, your food is fully cooked and ready to eat!

One of our favorite things about making a slow cooker meal, though, is the opportunity it provides to get creative. You can throw just about anything into the pot and it will come out tasting delicious. Of course, the one ingredient we love to experiment with most of all is Grandma Jones’ Pepper Jelly.

Here are three of our favorite slow cooker meal ideas, taste-tested right here in the Jones family kitchen. Try ‘em yourself the next time you’re feeling hungry… and patient.

Jalapeno Glazed Slow Cooker Meatballs

Looking for something to serve at your next party or game day? Our recipe for jalapeno glazed slow cooker meatball is a tried and true crowd-pleaser.

You can use either pre-made frozen meatballs for this slower cooker meal, or you can make your own using your preferred meat mixture (we personally enjoy a three-way combo of beef, lamb, and pork). Either way, place the meatballs in the slow cooker with about one cup of beer, a jar of Jalapeno Pepper Jelly, and a bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce.

That’s all there is to it! In about 3-4 hours, your meatballs will be ready to eat. Just try not to gobble them all up before your guests arrive.

Slow Cooker Pepper Jelly Pulled Pork

This one is extremely popular in the Jones household, and for good reason. This slow cooker pepper jelly pulled pork recipe is easy, filling, and finger-lickin’ good!

All you need is 2-4 pounds of pork shoulder, salt and pepper, garlic and onion powder, about half an onion (chopped), some mustard or BBQ sauce, and (last but not least) your favorite variety of Grandma Jones’ Pepper Jelly. After letting the pork marinate overnight, leave it in the slow cooker for about 8-10 hours.

Once ready, the meat will be so hot and tender, it will practically fall apart on your pork with a side of beans and biscuits for a taste of true Southern hospitality.

Sweet and Spicy Slow Cooker Chili

We all have comfort foods, dishes that not only nourish our bodies but also our hearts. Around the Jones household, one slower cooker meal that definitely fits that description is this recipe for sweet and spicy slow cooker chili.

A little more involved than the previous recipes, you’ll need the following ingredients: 2 pounds of ground beef, 2 cans of beans, 2 cartons of beef broth, a little olive oil, a large finely diced onion, chili and garlic powder, ground cumin, oregano, paprika, salt and pepper, a full jar of pepper jelly (we recommend our Southwestern Chipotle Pepper Jelly), and about a half-cup of cornstarch mixed with a half-cup of water (to thicken).

Although this slow cooker meal requires a bit more prep, it also takes less time to finish. In fact, your chili should be ready in about an hour and a half to two hours.

Make Any Slow Cooker Meal Better with Pepper Jelly

Sweet. Spicy. Savory. Sour. Grandma Jones’ Pepper Jelly is a versatile ingredient with a unique flavor profile designed to please every last taste bud on your tongue. Whether you’re looking to sweeten up an appetizer or spice up a dessert, Pepper Jelly can do it all.

The next time you break out your slow cooker, consider adding Pepper Jelly to your recipe. We’re sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the results!
