What’s your favorite kind of pepper? Bell? Poblano? Serrano? Habanero?

If you’re anything like those of us here in the Jones household, being asked to choose your favorite pepper is like being asked to choose your favorite child. That said, a case can definitely be made in favor of the humble jalapeno. Though not the hottest variety of pepper, jalapenos offer a nice tingle of spice, balanced with a bit of sweetness, and accompanied by a satisfyingly meaty crunch.

We’re not the only people who love jalapenos either; Grandma Jones’ Jalapeno Pepper Jelly is one of our most popular varieties, thanks to its simple but mouth-wateringly delicious blend of sweet, spicy, savory, and slightly sour flavors.

No surprise, then, that when we discovered this awesome new recipe for pepper jelly, bacon, and cream cheese jalapeno poppers, we had to give them a try. At the last Jones family cookout, we brought not one, not two, butthree platters of these bad boys… and every last one was gobbled up in record time!

Suffice to say, this is one recipe we’ll definitely be holding onto. And because Grandma Jones always taught us to share, we’ve included the entire thing down below. One taste and we predict that you’ll be just as smitten with this jalapeno popper recipe as we were!

  • Strips of uncooked center-cut bacon
  • Cream cheese
  • Cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • Monterey Jack cheese (shredded)
  • Green onion, finely diced
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper
  • Pepper Jelly (use your favorite flavor!)

How to Make Pepper Jelly Jalapeno Peppers, Step-By-Step

Bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers cooking on a grill

  1. Prep your grill or preheat your oven to 375 degrees. If using the oven, line a cooking sheet with aluminum foil coated with cooking spray.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the cream cheese and the shredded cheeses, as well as the green onion, cilantro, and garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper to suit your taste.
  3. Once the cheese mixture is ready, cut the jalapeno peppers in half lengthwise. Then, using a spoon or knife, remove the internal ribs and seeds. Be careful when handling the seeds, as these contain a lot of capsaicin. For safety, wash your hands before and after this step, or consider wearing a pair of disposable rubber gloves.Do not touch your eyes or face after handling jalapeno pepper seeds!
  4. Stuff each jalapeno half with your three-cheese mixture. If you’re worried about overdoing it, remember that it’s better to overstuff than to understuff. For best results, use your hands and fingers to pack the mixture in as tightly as possible.
  5. Liberally spread your preferred flavor of Pepper Jelly over the top of the stuffed peppers.
  6. Wrap each jalapeno half with a strip of bacon. Use toothpicks or skewers to keep the bacon in place.
  7. Cook each jalapeno popper until the bacon is crispy.
  8. Enjoy!
