Little by little, the month of December is winding down. You know what that means: the end of the old year and the beginning of a new one! What better time to throw a party?

Throwing a great New Year’s Eve party requires more than just a bag of chips and some delectable Pepper Jelly dips and spreads (although that’s certainly a good start!). Below, we’ve outlined what we think are four of the most crucial New Year’s Eve party ideas that you should consider.

Everything You Need for an Awesome New Year’s Eve Party

If you want to know how to throw a fun New Year’s Eve party, all you really need is four things: good food, good drink, good music, and good friends. With that in mind, here are some New Year’s Eve party ideas your guests won’t soon forget!

Good Food

You can’t ring in the new year on an empty stomach! Throwing a good New Year’s Eve party is all about starting the next chapter on a positive note, and what better way to do that than with some delicious New Year’s Eve party food?

Whatkind of food largely depends on the tastes of your guests and the type of party you’re throwing. That said, it’s always a good idea to offer a wide variety of New Year’s Eve party foods to satisfy a diverse selection of palates. We recommend arranging a large spread and then letting your guests pick and choose the items they want to try.

The best way to do this is with finger foods and hors d'oeuvres. Deviled eggs, calamari rings, and arancini balls are just a few easy-to-make bite-sized snacks that pair beautifully with Pepper Jelly. You can also assemble your own charcuterie board offering a tantalizing array of meats, cheeses, fruits, veggies, nuts, and dips.

Just remember: the key to serving great New Year’s Eve party food is having a little something for everyone.

Good Drink

Feeling parched? Need something to wash down those tasty party appetizers you’ve been scarfing? When brainstorming ideas for a New Year’s Eve party, it’s important to not forget to stock plenty of good drinks to go with all that great food.

In most cases, that means alcoholic beverages. People like indulging a little on New Year’s Eve and, after 365 days of the last year, they certainly have a right to. Instead of relying on store-bought wine and liquor, however, consider creating your own homemade cocktails using Pepper Jelly! It’s a great way to spice up your regular ol’ margarita or Bloody Mary.

If you are going to serve alcohol, please remember to do so responsibly. No one wants to be a party pooper, but if you have to, don’t hesitate to cut off a guest who is drinking excessively. Order them an Uber or taxi to make sure they get home safely. They’ll thank you in the morning.

Of course, not everyone drinks. Especially in the case of family-friendly parties, it’s important to offer plenty of non-alcoholic options as well, such as soda, juice, and water.

Good Music

It’s traditional to say hello to the new year and goodbye to the previous one by playing “Auld Lang Syne,” a classic Scottish song from the 18th century. But we don’t live in the 18th century, which means that there’s a great, big, beautiful world of other songs out there to also enjoy.

If you’re looking for entertainment ideas for a New Year’s Eve party, you can never go wrong with music. But what form should it take? A live band? A DJ? A Spotify playlist? The answer to that question will depend heavily on how much money you have to spend and how big a party you plan on throwing. They’re all perfectly fine options, however, so don’t be afraid to go with any one of them.

Likewise, don’t be afraid to take requests. While it’s a good idea to have a list of songs prepared ahead of time, giving your guests an opportunity to hear some of their own favorite songs will help keep everyone in a festive mood.

Last but not least, when putting together a playlist or setlist, try to find a nice balance between high-energy songs and more mellow tracks. Too much of the former will end up tiring your guests out early, while too much of the latter can sap the fun right out of the room.

Good Friends

The most important ingredient for any New Year’s Eve party is guests, and the quality of your guests plays a big role in the quality of the party. Maybe you’re throwing a big party for your co-workers, or maybe it’s just a small little get-together for family and friends. Whatever the case, it’s in your best interest to help your guests get to know each other better.

One way to do this is with party games and other activities. Another way to do this, at least for large dinner events, is to assign seats in a way that distributes people evenly, preventing the forming of cliques. No one wants to end up feeling like a third wheel or a wallflower because they don’t know anyone else. It’s important to be as inclusive as possible.

At the very least, try to make one-on-one introductions for guests who’ve never met each other before. That doesn’t mean you should try to force interactions, however. Some people just won’t be comfortable around certain other people. Do your best to identify any issues with compatibility that might come upbefore the party, so you can take steps to prevent this.

Most importantly, surround yourself with people you love and who love you. New Year’s Eve is supposed to be a time to spend with those we cherish the most, after all.
